Leah Williamson overcame the pressure of a five-day wait to score
the penalty that sent England's women to the European Under-19
Championship.
In an unprecedented ruling, Uefa ordered the game with
Norway to restart in injury time due to a refereeing error in Saturday's
first match.Trailing 2-1, England encroached at a penalty that should have been retaken.
By beating Switzerland earlier on Thursday, Williamson knew she had to score for England to top their group.
But the 18-year-old had to endure a five-hour wait between the end of the Switzerland game and her penalty.
"I went for a sleep," she told Sport. "There was nothing else to do. I was pacing around last night so I didn't want to do that again
"It's incredible. I didn't know until just before the Switzerland game, but my mum managed to change her flights so she could stay and watch. That was really nice."
Williamson's heroics came in bizarre circumstances, as both sides emerged at the Seaview Stadium in Belfast and headed straight to the Norway penalty area, rather than the centre circle.
Having already scored a penalty earlier that day in the 3-1 win over Switzerland, Williamson was forced to wait a few more nervous moments, as the referee ensured all the players were outside the box.
But the Arsenal defender coolly placed her spot-kick into the bottom left-hand corner to make it 2-2, leaving Norway just enough time to kick-off before the final whistle was blown and England celebrations could begin.
England women's head coach Mark Sampson, speaking after the senior side's 2-1 friendly win over China, added: "To take that penalty and the fact she has scored it speaks volumes for the character in the team and the personality she has."
