Snoop Dogg's son Cordell Broadus --
one the most highly recruited high school players in the country --
just dropped a bombshell ... he's quitting the UCLA football team to
"pursue other passions."
Broadus, a freshman at UCLA, was M.I.A. from the first week of Bruins camp ... even though he was expected to compete for a starting wide receiver position this season. He intends to continue taking classes at UCLA.
But head coach Jim Mora says Cordell told him he wants to make movies ... "in particular his love of film through his company Film School Productions."
It sounds like they're parting on great terms, since Mora gave his company a plug -- and added, "Cordell is an amazing young man with many talents, and we wish him nothing but the best as he continues to pursue his degree."
