Texans dis Richmond, brawl with Redskins in ‘Hard Knocks’ premiere

As expected, the Redskins played a prominent role in Tuesday’s premiere of HBO’s “Hard Knocks: Training Camp With the Houston Texans,” with the teams’ melee during a joint practice on Saturday providing most of the drama.
After 40 minutes of fluff, including J.J. Watt flipping 1,000-pound tires, swinging a sledgehammer, making one-handed catches on the Jugs machine and absolutely crushing Gatorade, the “Hard Knocks” crew focused on the Texans’ eventful three days in Richmond.

Microphones caught an interesting bit of foreshadowing in a conversation between Redskins Coach Jay Gruden and Texans Coach Bill O’Brien before their teams’ first joint practice.
“We’re kicking the guy out of practice if there’s a fight,” Gruden says.

“Yeah, you know, when I was in Denver, if there was like an all-out brawl, the guy was gone,” O’Brien says, referring to the Texans’ joint practices with the Broncos last season. “But if it was just like they locked up, [screw] it, you know what I’m saying? Do you agree with that?”
The Houston quarterbacks’ practice jerseys didn’t arrive with the rest of the team’s gear, so they wore Redskins jerseys instead. Tom Savage jokes that he has been traded. A teammate teases Brian Hoyer that he looks like he’s about to take flight.
Meanwhile, Watt crushes whomever was responsible for painting the field.
“I think the guy was hammered when he painted this line,” Watt says as he warms up on a very, very crooked line. “You see this line, Vince [Wilfork]? Look at that. This line isn’t even remotely close to straight. Living the high life, painting lines on the field.”
And O’Brien takes issue with the lack of energy at the Bon Secours training center.
