Kelechi Iheanacho is already dreaming of pulling on a Manchester City shirt at Wembley in February.
Ahead of the Blues’ fourth-round match with Crystal Palace in the League Cup today, Iheanacho, 19, says playing at the national stadium is a long-standing ambition.
“We know that if we win, we’re only three games away from a final at Wembley, a place I’ve always wanted to play at,” he said. “We’ll be going all out to beat them.”
The young Nigerian looks set to make his first start for the club after a number of impressive cameos this season, including against Palace in the 1-0 league victory back in September.
He came on during the final stages of a tight match and scored a last-gasp winner to preserve City’s 100 per cent start to the season.
It’s a game that will forever be etched in the young forward’s mind. “Crystal Palace will always be a special game for me because I scored my first goal against them,” he told the club’s official website.
“It won’t be easy because they are a quality side. They are very strong and have very good wingers, so they will believe they can come here and win.”
