Abia Warriors medical team has confirmed Ifeanyi Onyeali is fit for Wednesday’s Premier League clash against Lobi Stars at home.
Onyeali last featured for the Warriors on September 20 when he scored the winner in a hard-fought 3-2 victory over visiting Warri Wolves in Umuahia. He had earlier sustained a head injury during the match when he collided mid-air with Solomon Kwambe and was later stretchered off.
He subsequently missed two away games against Sunshine Stars in Akure and Akwa United in Uyo as well as the 3-3 home draw against Enugu Rangers in Umuahia.
But Onyeali, who has so far scored five league goals for the Warriors this season after undergoing his rehabilitation programme, returned to training to the admiration of coach Isa Ladan-Bosso.
The club’s head of medical unit, Dr. Enyinnaya Anozie, described Onyeali’s recovery as “miraculous”, considering the nature of his injury and said he had been certified fit to start training again.
Anozie also revealed that defender Ogbonnya Okemmiri, who sustained a toe injury in a week 27 game against Nasarawa United in September, was recuperating fine and would soon be ready to start training again. Youngster ShedrackAsiegbu, who was hit with a bout of typhoid fever after featuring against Sunshine Stars in Akure on September 27, has yet to resume training. Also Bolaji Sakin, who sustained a head injury against Akwa United about two weeks ago, has been discharged from hospital and is in stable condition.
Bosso, who lamented the absence of the trio, however, said he was happy that Onyeali was back to action. But he could not confirm whether the player would feature against Lobi Stars.
