“The LMC deserves more encouragement from all and sundry and we have no doubt that the board will come up with more innovation in the years ahead.”
Globacom also expressed satisfaction with the turn out of fans, giving them a pat on the back for identifying with the home front.
“We also commend the crowd who troop to match venues to cheer the players as we look forward to seeing more spectators thronging the stadia in the coming season.”
The title sponsor noted that the tight competition witnessed among clubs in the last weeks of the season pointed to continuous improvement in the standard of the elite division.
Enyimba FC of Aba tops the log with 68 points after 36 matches with two matches to the end of the season while Warri Wolves trail closely on 62 points and will need to win the next two games, which include a clash with Enyimba to stand a chance of winning the league.
This year’s league has lived up to expectation in terms of quality of matches, and had continued to rub off on the home-based national team.
Enyimba which started the sea¬son slowly rose to the occasion weeks after and then sustained their leadership up to this moment said everything about the competi¬tiveness of the league.
Defending champions, Pillars FC of Kano also deserved com¬mendation for achieving an appre¬ciable result despite suffering seri¬ous setback at the inception of the league when the team was attacked on its way to honoring a match with some players severely injured in the incident.
The Kano-based team showed strength and commitment and hopefully they will improve re¬markably next season.
