The Indianapolis Colts are unraveling. And I'm not even talking about on the field. Because even at 0-2, the Colts should probably still be seen as the favorites in the AFC South.
But after the Colts fell to the New York Jets at home, after Andrew Luck committed four turnovers in the loss, Colts' head coach Chuck Pagano didn't hold back his emotions in his press conference. Instead, Pagano went all in on his team.
And that includes his star quarterback, who was picked off three times and lost a fumble.
"It's not that hard," Pagano said when asked about Luck's turnovers, according to The Indianapolis Star. "It's not trigonometry."
Pagano also added that the Colts "can't turn the damn ball over." Against the Jets, the Colts turned the ball over five times.
Obviously, it's not all Luck's fault. One of those five turnovers came when running back Frank Gore simply dropped the ball just shy of the goal line. That fumble came at the end of an 18-play drive that ate up roughly 10 minutes of the third quarter.
"You're not going to beat Zionsville doing that," Pagano said, referring to a high school football team.
Though he wasn't sacked, Luck was hit 11 times by a Jets' pass rush that simply overwhelmed the Colts' front five.
But Pagano wasn't willing to make excuses for Luck's rough night.
"He has been dealing with that for three years now," Pagano said, perhaps also taking a shot at the roster that general manager Ryan Grigson has constructed in Indianapolis.
After two games, the Colts are 0-2. Yet, the Colts can still win the division, because they play in the AFC South. But for a Colts team that had Super Bowl aspirations entering the season, winning the division isn't good enough. Pagano's frustration after the game demonstrated that much.
