Lyon overcame the first-half dismissal of defender Lindsay Rose to draw with St Etienne and replace Paris-St Germain at the top of Ligue 1

Clinton N'Jie

The home side went ahead in the Rhone Valley derby when Clinton N'Jie fired in but Rose was then sent off for handball and ex-Leeds winger Max Gradel levelled from the penalty spot.

Romain Hamouma raced through to put St Etienne 2-1 up just before the break.

But a near-post header from Christophe Jallet put Lyon top on goal difference.
However, defending champions PSG, who won 3-1 at Nice on Saturday, have the benefit of a game in hand on the leaders.
