England's Justin Rose believes he can win his second major title at the US PGA Championship next week.
The
2013 US Open winner
, 35, fired a 63 to claim a share of the lead after the third round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio.Rose carded seven birdies, including four in the last six holes, to finish nine-under par alongside American Jim Furyk, who returned a 69.
Asked if his form pointed towards a second major title, he replied: "Yes."
Rose added: "At least I am knocking on that door a little bit again, which is nice."
Ireland's Shane Lowry (67) is two off the lead and England's Ian Poulter is four behind after carding a 65.
Rose had carded 17 pars and one bogey in a second round of 71 in Akron, extending an unwelcome run without a birdie to 30 holes as he started the day six shots off the lead.
However, he made amends in sublime fashion, with several superb shots including a 10-foot birdie putt on the 15th hole and a 40-foot birdie putt to finish.
World number two Jordan Spieth has much work to do if he is to claim a victory on Sunday and replace Northern Ireland's world number one Rory McIlroy at the top of the rankings. The 22-year-old carded a double bogey on the 18th to shoot 72 and is nine shots off the lead.
